The Penbrook Leo Club is a community-based group of our local youth – middle through high school students. We are always looking for new members who are interested in volunteering and serving our community.
The PENBROOK LEO CLUB was founded and chartered by Lions Clubs International in the Spring of 2009. In one short year, with 20+ members, the PENBROOK LEO CLUB and its members have been recognized by the Borough of Penbrook, the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, Lions Clubs International and even the Lions International's President.
Members participated in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's "Walk to Find a Cure" - raising over $500. Members also participated in the District's Diabetes Bowlathon - raising almost $400. With a theme of "Kids Helping Kids" that money too will be going to the JDRF.
Our Leos members have participated in National Night Out, the Penbrook Halloween Parade, the Community Halloween Party, the Harrisburg Holiday Parade and the Penbrook Tree Lighting Ceremony. They have visited the Lions Beacon Lodge Camp, which is a Lions-sponsored camp for the visually impaired. And they have attended two State Lions Conventions.
With the new Lions/Leo Year starting in July 2010, the members of the PENBROOK LEO CLUB hope to find bigger and better ways to SERVE those around us.
L-E-O - stands for Leadership, Experience, and Opportunity - the Advisory Committee of the PENBROOK LEO CLUB hopes to bring out the best in our youth by allowing them to build Leadership through Experience and Opportunity.
Remember, as the Club grows, we have: more eyes to see what needs to be done; more ears to hear the needs of others; and more hands to SERVE those in need.
We invite student in Middle School through High School or parents to stop by and visit us.
The PENBROOK LEO CLUB meets at the Penbrook Community Building on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays at 6:00 PM.
If you have any questions or would like to visit a meeting, please feel free to contact Lion Kathy Fouse (member of the Advisory Committee) at 695-0943.
